Advanced Patient Simulation Training Technology

CIEMSS is working to bring state-of-the-art patient simulation training technology to the Cape & Islands region. This building project will establish one of the most progressive and technologically advanced training facilities in our area, enabling CIEMSS to enhance pre-hospital medical training and empower our EMS community to deliver the most advanced patient care available.

Through the generosity of Cape Cod Healthcare, the new EMS Training Center will be located on the Cape Cod Hospital Campus. It will include:

  • An 89-seat modular classroom
  • A mobile high-fidelity simulation unit in the main classroom
  • A dedicated pediatric simulation lab
  • A dedicated adult simulation lab
  • Additional training areas for hands-on practice

High-Fidelity Simulation Mannequins

The use of high-fidelity simulation mannequins that are designed to mimic human physiology and patient response creates an important and valuable experiential learning environment where students can practice what is learned in the classroom.

Students experience true-to-life, high-stress emergency medical scenarios and are able to practice their response and medical techniques on the life-like mannequins without risk to human patients.

As every medical situation is unique, this type of hands-on learning also gives students opportunities to practice critical scenarios that are infrequently encountered in the field, making the EMS practitioner much better prepared to perform those complex medical tasks when the situation does arise.
